It’s difficult starting something new. When I first started writing, I knew my first book wouldn’t be great, so I went ahead and wrote it anyway, just to get it out of the way. Don’t worry, it’s not Foundling, it’s a book that won’t ever see the light of day. I haven’t even looked at it again since I wrote it, but I’m really glad I did it anyway.

In that same vein, I’m sure I should be starting this series of blogposts with something significant, or witty, or wonderfully insightful to say…

Unfortunately, nothing comes to mind aside from the fact that I felt inspired to start writing this blog today!

Several things might have contributed:

1) Today is a special day, both personally (it’s my birthday) and because…

2) After a long time of admiring another author from afar, I finally got the courage to write to them and they replied back! (such warm fuzzies, I tell you!) If one day, someone likes my writing enough to want to talk to me, I’d like them to know that this happens to me too, and that when in doubt… I guess it’s better to reach out. Even if you’re a shy introvert and would like to hide under the nearest rock after that.

3) I just watched a nice episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, and it was heartwarming, so I’m in a happy place and feel brave enough to start something new. I’m relatively new to Star Trek (started with Discovery when it came out, then binged Voyager (after trying Original and Next Generation and not being able to keep watching those–might try again later)), and I’m enjoying it so far.

Well… that’s all for now, folks! Whoever is out there reading this. Kind of nice just talking into the void 🙂
